As soon as Bill got home from work, we whisked over to Woodland Lake Park in Lakeside, while we still had some sunlight, for a Family Home Evening/Picnic.
It was a great day for it---no chilling breeze like there is sometimes in the winter, and the sky was glorious! To the side of Diane, you can see the curvy line that is where the ice starts, then the straighter line where the snow has stayed on top of the thicker ice.
Bill is fond of saying, "I am SO glad I am not a duck!" when we are on the bridge watching them. They don't look cold at all! Amazing.
Here Diane is pointing to a feather trapped in the snow that looks like a spider. Since the eagles weren't there today, we found other things to enjoy looking at. You can see that this side of the lake is totally frozen over, with a layer of snow on top. It was fun seeing the different tracks in the snow, and trying to figure out what they were.
Here is Bill coming back from doing his Scout "good turn daily"---taking some litter to the trash can. Good for you, Bill!
Well, the sun is setting. Time to head back to the Jeep for the heater, some dinner, and some cool stories on NPR radio. We love how the sunset looks with the trees sillouetted against it.
Happy "last meal", Bill! Bill is having some tests done Wednesday, so Monday night was his last meal for a while that isn't Jello, juice or broth. Diane wanted him to feel loved and cared about before having some not-so-fun days. Enjoy your goblet of V-8 juice! Fun times.
