Part of our 5th Anniversary Celebration was to spend August 2nd exploring the Greer area. We had such a fun time! Bill brought along his tripod so we could capture some of our favorite spots and moments. These first few photos were taken at Squirrel Springs.
Do you know how hard it is to take a photo here without it looking like a tree is growing out of your head? We did good in this one!
I love this photo of Bill, in a pondering moment. He looks good in his cowboy boots, shirt and hat! It's OK for a good guy to wear a black shirt, as long as his hat is white!
The wildflowers were beautiful everywhere! The recent rains have made every available spot glorious with color!
More pretty scenery! The sky was so beautiful all day with magificent clouds, sunbursts, and a little rain here and there. (Then, in the evening on the way home, the clouds burst open and heavy rain poured out. From the highway we could see some areas that had floodwaters quite deep, and washes running with brown flash-flood water. By then our camera had gone thru its second set of batteries and was done, so we don't have photos. We were thankful we had heeded flash-flood warnings and had stayed out of those areas.)
Aren't we cute in Bill's parents' hats? They were fun to wear, and kept our glasses dry when it sprinkled!
Have cake, will travel! Continuing the tradition we started on our honeymoon, we ate cake for breakfast, lunch and dinner! 5 years ago Diane had baked the lemon chiffon cakes that made up our wedding cake, then our friend decorated them for us. So, baking lemon chiffon cakes from the same recipe, and eating most of one on our Anniversary - seemed very appropriate!
We did actually have other picnic foods too: baked chicken and grapes and V-8...!

Diane has ALWAYS loved quaking aspens---even when only 3 or 4 years old, she can remember loving them, anticipating when she would see them on a mountain road. Bill wanted to make sure she got to see quaking aspens on this trip.

When we first moved here, we drove down this same road when there WAS deep blowing snow on a sunny day! This is on the way to Sunrise ski resort. Again, aren't the clouds and sky amazing? We love beautiful scenery! It is nice to have that in common.
Even the view from the sun-roof was lovely.
We were here! We looked a little at all 3 lakes. There is so much beauty in this area. Heavenly Father's creations are extra-lovely here.
The sun came out for a bit before it began to set. Tired, but happy, we watch for all the beauty we can on the way home. What a fun Anniversary idea---to come here. Thanks, Bill!
