This is called a "Black-headed Grosbeak". They look beautiful when they fly, with the bright yellow and orange breast and back, and the flashes of white on the black wings. They have a really strong, big beak, and only eat the sunflower seeds in our yard.

We love our pair of doves, that now are in our yard about half the day, instead of just a part of their morning routine, as before. We figure that, in addition to being beautiful to watch and listen to, in an emergency they could be part of our year's supply of food! (Just kidding!) There really IS a peaceful feeling around them.
