Such a lovely afternoon to explore the forests nearby. Bill got home early from busdriving cuz of parent-teacher conferences, and the rainstorm had stopped, leaving the dirt roads not dusty!

The weather has cooled off enough to enjoy long sleeves, and there is a beginning feel of autumn in the air.

It is such a nice day. We enjoy making a point of spending some time in the forest around Diane's birthday, which is this Sunday. A good way to start off a birthday week!

There are so many gorgeous scenes in the areas we stopped and walked! (Please turn your head left for this one---sorry!)

Bill spent quite a lot of time unwinding enthusiastic HoneyBear's leash from trees and cool stumps like this one!

We were glad that the roads weren't dusty, so we could keep windows open, but that does mean dealing with some mud! This clay-type mud coated our tires so they were smooth for a while! We even took photos of the muddy ruts that caused this, but if we showed you ALL the photos of this afternoon, this post would be waaaaaaaaaaay too long!!! Diane is glad that Bill is good at driving on slippery roads!

Hi, cow! HoneyBear wasn't sure what to do about this creature, and sat watching it a few minutes. She finally decided to bark at it. Bill told her that it was the cow's home, so she stopped barking.

During our drive, HoneyBear was enjoying having her head out of the window, the first she has ever done that with us. On the way home, Bill said, "You know, if you were on my school-bus, I would tell you to keep your head in," so HoneyBear brought her head in! She sure understands people-talk! She is good to travel with.
