On our vacation, HoneyBear's coat became thick again because of the very cool temperatures where we camped and in Manti at night. She needed a thinning and a summer cut. But she hates the noise of the electric hair clipper. I explained I would give her a cut with the scissors instead if she would lay down and hold still. So, as Bill watched, amazed, she immediately laid down, changing sides when needed, and patiently let me cut her hair, and thin it with the furminator tool. Every once in a while we took a break, and then she would patiently come over to begin again. The thinning tool pulls the warm undercoat out while leaving the nice outer fur, and the pulling is not comfortable for very long on her type of coat. But she was determined not to have to use the noisy clippers, and she wanted to be cooler. What an amazing dog!
Diane's beautician training of many years ago still comes in handy! 3 bags full of fur! (Wal-Mart plastic bags, that is!)
