Bill attended the Bishop's sunrise scripture reading at 5:30am during our ward campout. They drove up here to have it. Bill really enjoyed this outing, they had great discussions, and saw a herd of elk.

And a view from the bottom. So great to be able to drive all the way to the top, and even go up the tower if the ranger is there. She said she watched the big fire from our ward campsite --- it was a huge old tree trunk/stump with lots of pitch in it. It was lit on Friday and burned big and bright clear through Saturday afternoon, even through an hour or so of pouring rain! The Bishop told us that when they were pouring 45 gallons of water to put it out, the ground underneath was still so hot that the water instantly boiled. Amazing. Thankfully, the man that was responsible for the amazing fire was also well-known for doing a fine job of putting it out. We wish we had gotten photos of the fire, but didn't have our camera with us most of the time during our Ward campout. We did well to just be there! We had a really nice time.
This is Carnero Lake, between Sheep's Corral and Greens Peak. This time of year it is quite marshy and mosquito-ey so we didn't get out, but enjoyed looking at it. Bill and the 11 yr-old Scouts and another leader camped here a few years ago.
