Patriotic People Live Here!

I just had to get a photo of our flag waving in the breeze, with my favorite patriot, Bill. Even our dog HoneyBear seems to know that the flag is important. We hope your 4th of July was fun and patiotic, too. We enjoyed the fireworks from our driveway again this year. It is so neat that the high school where they shoot them off is only a mile or 2 away---we just set up some chairs and enjoy them without the crowds or traffic! Church on Sunday morning was packed with visitors---it is fun to live in a place where people love to go for holidays! And on Sunday evening we enjoyed a patriotic program on byutv.org. Great music, great stories---some from Steve Young and a serviceman friend of his. You might enjoy looking at a replay of it---check byu.org for times. As lovely as our 4th was, we missed family being with us. Hope you can join us next year!

One thing that was funny: Bill had gotten us some glow-stick bracelets, and we enjoyed twirling them around in pretty light displays, then attached some to HoneyBear's collar. She pranced around so prettily and checked her reflection in the mirror. We let her sleep in our room cuz there were still occaisional firecracker sounds, which made her nervous. In the middle of the night, she stood up to move to a new spot and, as usual, shook a little to fluff out her fur. Well, when she shook, all sorts of lights danced around the walls & floor cuz of the light sticks attached to her collar, giving her quite a fright and surprising us, too!!!

We had some sweet times reminiscing, too. Our first 4th of July was 5 years ago, a month before we were married. Bill's sweet Mother, Goldie, had fallen during the night before, and was in the hospital. We didn't want to leave her alone to go see fireworks, so we twirled light sticks in her room with her! Fun memory. We both have fun 4th memories of years past when our children were younger and then memories of our childhood 4th of Julys. Lots of happy times, lots of happy times to come! We truly hope to have a houseful next year for the 4th. Who wants 1st dibs? It is even possible to have a cousin's tent or two outside. Doesn't that sound fun?
