Elder David A. Bednar gave this talk in May of this year at a CES Fireside. It struck a cord with Diane and I as we watched it for Family Home Evening tonight. It is sometimes so easy to spend more time with the computer than each other. We have found that once in a while it takes real concerted effort on both our parts to stay focused on doing things together. We believe that much of what we do on the computer is good, utilizing LDS. org, and keeping communication with those we love open and alive through e-mail, blogs, Facebook, and playing Internet Scrabble with those far away. But when we started playing Scrabble with each other on the computers, sitting across the room with our backs to each other, we noticed that some of the fun interaction we have when we play together was missing.
We hope and pray that you will watch Elder Bednar's talk. He lays a powerful doctrinal foundation for what he wants to say to his audience, which includes each of us. He asks us if we are living more in the real world or in the virtual world.
As you watch, listen for the Spirit's guidance. Consider for yourselves how his words may relate to your lives. If some changes are indicated we pray that you will have the courage to make them.
