We recently had a neat experience. A few weeks ago, we were getting low on antibiotic-free eggs, and some other supplies, and knew we couldn't afford a trip to the valley (Mesa, Phoenix, etc.) till December. So, Diane began praying for a way to get the eggs we needed. At the same time, some friends of ours had a dilemma: He is the drama director at the High School. They had scheduled a trip to Phoenix with the drama club for a 3-day conference, but needed to leave early for a baby blessing in Utah. The school district told them they could have chaperone substitutes for the last day, as long as at least one was a school district employee. But they were on their own for finding someone. Where to begin?
Well, before Relief Society, Diane was visiting when a feeling suddenly came that she should look for our friend. She found her and they began chatting, and suddenly our friend stopped in mid-sentence and her eyes widened and sparkled. She told Diane about their dilemma, and Diane knew instantly that this was the answer to all of the prayers, from both couples! Before this conversation, our friend didn't know that Bill is a school district employee.
So, to make a long story shorter, arrangements were made for us to drive their car down to Phoenix on Friday after work, get our eggs and other supplies, and meet them at the hotel near the conference. The drama club paid for our room, even. On Saturday, they transferred the paperwork to us and we became the chaperones so they could begin their drive to Utah. We met 13 really great teens, got to see a wonderful production of "The Secret Garden", as well as many award-winning smaller acts, had to deal with only one discipline incident, and had beautiful guitar music from 2 of the students on the bus-ride home. And Bill really enjoyed riding the bus, instead of driving! We even had the special green Show Low Cougars bus with comfy contoured seats!
Most wonderful of all was the energy that we were both blessed with. There was lots of walking between places in downtown Phoenix, and not much time to sleep or rest. And yet, we were both blessed to be able to go to our church meetings on Sunday, even tho we got home and to bed by about 2:3o am. Beginning after church through today, we have been super exhausted, and recuperating, but that was to be expected.
Heavenly Father really does hear and answer prayers. We are so thankful that this time, the answer was YES! And that we were able to help someone else also! He really does use us to help answer other's prayers at times. So, in addition to being thankful for family, friends, food, a lovely healthy place to live, etc, etc, we are thankful that a specific need was important enough to Him to answer in such a specific way.
