Now doesn't this look so much like a deer or elk with antlers? We so enjoyed finding interesting things in nature! We will share just a few here, that we found on our last walk after everyone else had left.
This was a landmark for most of the grandchildren, too. It is on the way to the meadow.
This is a cool gnarled root system from a downed tree. If you look closely, you can see rocks that the roots grew around, and how the roots made their way around that huge rock. There is an inspirational essay in there somewhere... For now, it is a great home for hornytoads!
"Endurance", "Faith", "Bloom where you are Planted"...so many good names for this photo---what is your favorite? There were many patches with many flowers in greener areas, but I was drawn to this one, in rocky, dry dust, on the edge of the road of many ruts... Hmmm, I feel another inspirational essay coming on...
Bill explained that this is one of the best reasons to carry a walking stick---to rest upon!
We named this "cooperation omelet!" Yummy! We each contributed ideas for it, and it worked well, without getting our griddle egg-y! Wait, this blog post is about the beauties in nature on our last day!? Uh, maybe not--oh, yes, it is about assorted photos!!! (Is Diane too tired to be blogging at this moment? Maybe)
Chuckle! Bill wanted to get a photo of the fire and us in the early morning. But, thanks to our new air matress, Diane was sleeping sooooo comfy, he didn't have the heart to wake her. So, this photo reminds us that we are thankful the forest was healthy enough to have fires in campsites, AND that we have modern accomodations to make camping enjoyable!
This cool bug kept Bill company for quite a long time on our walk! We need to look in our book to learn what it is...
Almost "done-in", but happy as clams. What a fun vacation to start our summer with! Make sure YOU plan on joining us next year, if possible! Sometime between the Wednesday before Memorial Day weekend and the Monday evening of Memorial Day, we hope you can join us!
