Bill really likes the "Super-troop" concept. All three wards in our church building meet together, so there are more boys, more leaders, more fun! Look closely at the flag, if you can---The boys came up with the idea, made most of the flag, made up their yell... Bill said they really did a good job of taking charge of their camp experience. 6 of their 10 boys were able to be on this two-Stake sponsored camp-out.
Are they having fun doing their "yell" at the campfire??? Genuine comraderie at its finest!
They were in charge of retiring the American flag--you can see how carefully they folded it--even in the wind! They also had instruction in and passed off knots & lashing; knife & ax; map & compass; citizenship in the community--a lot about the constitution presented by one of the boy's fathers who is an attorney.
After packing up camp, Bill and another leader took them on an extra hike to identify plants, wildlife & scat. They managed to identify a large patch of poison ivy without getting any on them! They accomplished a lot towards their First Class requirements!~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
On this Father's Day, I am so happy Bill helps to encourage young scouts as well as the father and grandfather things he loves so much to do. Kids these days need as many good people caring about them as possible!
